Psychotherapist

A psychotherapist is a practitioner of talk therapy. Talk therapy involves talking about things you find distressing. Therapists can also help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings. And offer you a safe space to find support.

All TherapyHub.ie therapists hold accreditation with a governing body. These bodies ensure standards of care and guidelines. All TherapyHub.ie verified therapists are certified by five bodies.

These are:
  • Irish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP)
  • Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP)
  • Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP)
  • Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI)

Counsellor

A counsellor can provide more short-term support in specific areas of life. A counsellor can work with adults, children or adolescents. Counsellors on TherapyHub.ie are accredited by the IACP.

Psychologist

A psychologist is someone who provides therapy or assessments. They often work as a part of a team with different kinds of professionals. There are three types of practicing psychologists in Ireland.

They hold postgraduate degrees and often doctorates. They may specialise in an area such as education. Or work with children only. The PSI governs psychologists in Ireland.
